Monroe County 4-H Strong!  Youth development through:

  • Post-High School Educational Scholarships for 4-H members totaling $107,500 since 2003 with 89 recipients
  • 4-H Event Scholarships to 4-H members to attend State and National activities to further knowledge in their project areas and leadership skills.
  • 4-H member program fee and 4-H project book costs for 300+ members each year.
  • 27 years of summer Youth Cooking School with over 100 youth each summer learning food safety and healthy nutrition.
  • 10 years of Baebler Educational Farm development and public events including Butterfly Festival, agriculture research and education to farmers/landowners as well as youth camps and programs throughout the year. 
  • 9 Community Clubs for youth ages 8-18 covering all areas of the county including Waterloo, Columbia, Valmeyer, Hecker and Maeystown. 
  • Cloverbud and Gardenbud 4-H groups for youth ages 5-7.
  • 30 teens in the 4-H Federation club, who volunteer to support events such as Harvest Night, 4-H Achievement Program, Sheep Festival, 4-H Shows and more. 
  • Junior High Science Clubs in collaboration with Waterloo and Valmeyer schools.
  • A variety Special Interest Clubs focusing on project areas such as livestock judging, horse bowl/hippology, sewing, robotics, natural resources and more.
  • 15 trained 4-H Teens Teachers, who provide agricultural education to preschool youth and help teach youth at events such as Fair Tours, Conservation Day and more.
  • Nutritional programs for local youth and adults including: Wellness Wednesdays, Diabetes Support Group, Serve it Safely Trainings, Pressure Canner Testing, 4-H cooking clubs and workshops and more.
  • Scholarships for Master Gardener and Master Naturalist training.
  • Agriculture, Horticulture and Natural Resources educational workshops and programs. 
  • Program support to the Monroe County Association for Home & Community Education (HCE).
